NEWS FLASH - Honoring Dave Brubeck
RIP Dave Brubeck
Dave Brubeck was an innovator who was not initally embraced by the American jazz music scene, because he was bold enough to be different and unique. He was the first pianist to break 4/4 time in jazz, by adding a fifth beat to the measure, according to jazz historian Ted Gioia.
Dave and I both attended Mills College in Oakland, Calfornia, and I was fortunate enough to see him perform there in 1983.
Another interesting fact is that he was married for 70 years!
Take Five, and BE bold and unique, in Dave's honor!
