CBL#165 - Beauty, Sexuality and Sustainability with Pablo Solomon

Did you know that Elvis learned his moves from going to strip clubs as a young man? This bit of fun trivia was shared by my guest this week, Pablo Solomon.

Pablo was the perfect guest this month of "Earth Day," as he was a pioneer in the environmental movement. He is also an artist who uses the qualities of beauty and sexuality in his art and designs. He is passionate about the balance of beauty in nature, and has a huge vision for how we can be sustainable with true freedom.

He spoke about the Buffalo Bayou water clean up project when he was growing up. He didn't get a chance to say "on air," but wanted to add the following wonderful news. Miraculously a combination of laws and responsible businesses came together and now Buffalo Bayou again has fish and alligators and canoes. It is being turned into a parkway for miles through the center of Houston. This is perhaps the most impressive example in America of what people and responsible businesses can do when they work together and not against one another.

Another pioneer woman who brings a true feeling of freedom to her life is Maya Angelou. Coach Betty Louise reads her famous poem "Phenomenal Woman," as it is a beautiful expression of inner beauty and sexuality. To listen to the whole show, click the listen button below.

ARTICLE - The Awkwardness of Pleasure

The Awkwardness of Pleasure

What makes the word orgasm so nervous making for many people? Even here in my home in progressive thinking Northern California, I have given presentations where the audience has been ill at ease with my comfort in saying the word orgasm.

This nervousness is on some level an indication of our resistance to pleasure. It is undeniable that the word orgasm stands for a pleasurable experience. Where does this fear of pleasure come from?

Hedonophobia is a word from the Greeks that means "fear of pleasure." Many people feel guilt from deriving pleasure while others somewhere in the world are suffering. It feels like such an injustice. However, the science of consciousness and laws of attraction show us that we can actually create more pleasure energy and experiences for those suffering if we think, speak and act out of pleasure. Pleasure lives right alongside the pain and suffering.

We are at a turning point in our awareness of the potential for pleasure being a healing force. The numbers of people are growing who understand more and more that old religious doctrines encourage fear and guilt do not serve us in facing and solving the problems we have in our lives, our relationships and with the planet.

Pleasure is defined as a broad class of mental states that humans and other animals experience as positive, enjoyable or worth seeking. Orgasm, on the other hand, is NOT a mental state…orgasm is a body state and that is why it is effective in creating an experience of pleasure, for those who will allow it. The body tells the truth making it one of the most authentic forms of pleasure we can enjoy.

How can we take the awkward out of orgasm?

My three recommendations are:

1) Allow yourself to think about the word orgasm. Write it down and note next to it other associated words that it brings up for you.

2) Begin to use the word to describe experiences in your life…orgasmic eating and other orgasmic experiences outside of sex.

3) Remember that embarrassment comes from worrying about what others think AND it really is none of your business what other people think of you. :)

Experiment with finding an orgasmic experience once everyday for the next month. PONDER:

What feelings do you experience in your body?

How does that impact your thoughts and your life?

Awesome living is right around the corner.

ARTICLE - Taking Relationships from Ordinary to Extraordinary

What makes a life extraordinary?

What do you think? Lots of money, fame or accomplishments may be the first place you think to look. I'd like to offer a more expansive view that allows anyone, anywhere at anytime to live an extraordinary life.

I would also like to offer that we ALL live extraordinary and ordinary lives. Each and every one of us has that special unique combination of amazing goodness that no one else has…that makes us far from ordinary. The paradox of wanting to belong and wanting to self-express keeps us in a conundrum of how to really feel about the BEing inside.

How can we fill ourselves up with the best of who we are, and bring that beautiful self to our relationships? How can we have organic orgasmic relationships that are based in honesty and acceptance?

According to Eric Anderson's book "The Monogamy Gap: Men, Love, and the Reality of Cheating," 78% of the undergraduate college men in the study cheated even though they said they loved their partners and wanted to stay with them. His study concluded that men don't want to be honest because it often results in termination of a relationship.

This is a WHOA Baby to me.

I agree with Eric Anderson that men crave sex with women. And guess what, it is a natural and human part of the way their brains function. Dr. Louann Brizendine, author and brain scientist, writes that the sexual center in the male brain is 2-1/2 times larger than the female brain. What if women focused on the power that lives within them instead of trying to control others behavior.

I recently had an experience at a party where I was speaking to a married man, some might say flirting although with no ill intention on my part. He was clearly enjoying our interaction when his wife came over and slapped their coats in his lap. The story I am making up about that is she did not like our interaction. It made her jealous or she felt some competition with me, even though she was a beautiful woman and her husband clearly respected and loved her. I will admit it is all an assumption.

What I know is that if a woman feels at peace within herself, she is at peace with what is happening all around her. When a woman feels her inner beauty and sexuality falling in love with what she sees in the mirror everyday, there is a courage, confidence and grace that is available to create honest, loving and extraordinary relationships.

Finding inner beauty and sexuality means finding more inner peace. This sets the foundation for the possibility of extraordinary relationships.

CBL#157 - The Inner Healer empowered by Susan Allison, PhD.

A willingness to feel inside and dialogue with your body opens up your ability to self-heal. It was a fascinating conversation with Dr. Susan Allison as she guided us through her 4 step process from her book, "Empowered Healer: Gain the confidence, power, and ability to heal yourself."  As women, we must believe in ourselves deeply to heal. Her book is a brilliant work of how we can do just that. To listen to the entire show, click the listen button below.

How can a women generate more oxytocin, which is the hormone that helps us stay peaceful and balanced? Answer…enjoy meaningful conversation with girlfriends. Studies show it is more important for women to have friends than it is for her to stop smoking cigarettes!! Listen in to hear more…

Dr. Susan Allison has helped numerous people achieve what modern medicine might term spontaneous recoveries from physical and emotional illnesses, including the overnight disappearance of a diagnosed cancer nodule in the larynx, shrinking lesions in the brain, the healing of cervical cancer, the recovery from throat cancer and Hepatitis C, the disappearance of excruciating pain virtually instantly, peripheral eyesight restored, blocked arteries cleared, and depression and anxiety released effortlessly.

These may seem like miracles, but they are actually the result of a four-step process that Allison teaches people in her new break-though book Empowered Healer: Gain the Confidence, Power and Ability to Heal Yourself. She has combined disciplines from her traditional practice as a psychotherapist with her training in a number of alternative healing methodologies-including clinical hypnotherapy, shamanic studies, Reiki, Reconnective Healing, intuitive guidance and more. Each of these made important  contributions to her remarkable four-step Empowered Healer Process. And in a few minutes you will discover how she used it to mystify doctors at Stanford University Hospital and help her husband! A vital turning point in her discovery of this process.

Empowered Healer is Susan’s third book, following on the heels of two other highly regarded books, Conscious Divorce, Ending a Marriage with Integrity and Breathing Room. She has a doctorate in Transpersonal Psychology and has been honored as a “Woman of the Year” in California for her counseling work, but today her practice is more about being an Empowered Healing coach than a traditional psychologist. Currently, she works with individuals and groups in a variety of capacities, but always with the intent of bringing about healing, whether it is physical, emotional or spiritual.
