FINDING THE FUNNY – Better than a Flu Shot

Thanks Conrad King for sharing the funny!

Miss Beatrice, the church organist, was in her eighties and had never been married. She was admired for her sweetness and kindness to all.

One afternoon the pastor came to call on her and she showed him into her quaint sitting room.

She invited him to have a seat while she prepared tea.

As he sat facing her old Hammond organ, the young minister noticed a cut glass bowl sitting on top of it. The bowl was filled with water, and in the water floated, of all things, a condom.

When she returned with tea and scones, they began to chat. The pastor tried to stifle his curiosity about the bowl of water and its strange floater, but soon it got the better of him and he could no longer resist.

"Miss Beatrice," he said, "I wonder if you would tell me about this." He pointed to the bowl.

"Oh yes," she replied, "Isn't it wonderful? I was walking through the park a few months ago and I found this little package on the ground. The directions said to place it on the organ, keep it wet, and that it would prevent the spread of disease."

"Do you know I haven't had the flu all winter?"

FINDING THE FUNNY – Boys will be Boys :)

A young man goes into a drug store to buy condoms. The pharmacist says the condoms come in packs of 3, 9, or 12 and asks which the young man wants.

"Well," he said, "I've been seeing this girl for a while and she's really hot. I want the condoms because I think tonight's "the night." We're having dinner with her parents, and then we're going out. And I've got a feeling I'm gonna get lucky after that. Once she's had me, she'll want me all the time, so you'd better give me the 12 pack."

The young man makes his purchase and leaves.

Later that evening, he sits down to dinner with his girlfriend and her parents. He asks if he might give the blessing, and they agree. He begins the prayer, but continues praying with his head down for several minutes after everyone starts eating.

The girl leans over and says, "You never told me that you were such a religious person.

He leans over to her and says, "You never told me that your father was a pharmacist."

CBL#146 – The Right Time to Say I Love You

Did you know that it is always the right time to say "I Love You?"

There are also so many different ways that love is expressed…sometimes as simple as offering a cup of tea.  This is a sneak preview of the the conversation I had with Cindy Wolfe Boynton, playwright and actress of the one woman show, "The Right Time to Say I Love You" in New York City. Cindy's inspiring story and play documents the gift of turning a difficult time with family into something positive, uplifting, and inspiring.  Her story is one of courage and empowerment. ARTICLE – Ten Simple Ways to BE in Your Beautiful Body

During this busy time of year, it is so easy to become ungrounded and lose your center. When this happens, you give up your energy and can easily become exhausted and triggered by family or friends if things don’t go as planned.  And think about it…when do things go according to plan?

Life happens when you are busy making plans!

To be able to flow with joy and fun when life happens, here are some simple ways to be aware of the signals that your body is giving you, and take responsibility for your own experiences.

1. Breathe deeply…make a commitment to breathe for 30 seconds down deep into your belly when you arise every morning from now until the end of the year.

2. Jokes…find your funny this season. Have a few jokes handy to create some healthy and healing laughter. Laugh at yourself often.

3. Smile…at anyone and everyone including yourself in the mirror.

4. Sleep…write down how many hours of sleep you have on your calendar in the morning…each week note your average…go for an average of 8 hours a night.

5. Eat something healthy that you enjoy everyday…maybe just a banana in the morning. Note how good it feels to eat it.

6. Drink at least 1 liter of hot water everyday. More is always better…not boiling but as hot as you can drink it. Add lemon for some added flavor and health benefits.

7. Meditate every morning for at least 5 minutes…basically sit quietly with yourself…nothing fancy needed.

8. Dance to your favorite music for 5 minutes a day…a song that makes you let loose a little.

9. Take at least 10 deep breaths out in the fresh air…could be on the way to the car or on the way into the shopping center. Just notice the air.

10. Look at your body in the mirror every day after you shower/bathe…let it know that you are paying attention.

Live, Love, Laugh………….

FINDING THE FUNNY – Women Saving Lives! :)

DAY 1:

Dear Diary,

All packed for the cruise ship — my nicest dresses, swimsuits, short sets. I'm very excited. Our local Red Hat chapter planned this "all-girls" trip. It will be my first one, and I can't wait!

DAY 2:

Dear Diary,

Spent the entire day at sea. Beautiful! Saw whales and dolphins. Met the Captain today — seems like a very nice man.

DAY 3:

Dear Diary,

At the pool today. Did some shuffleboard, hit golf balls off the deck. Captain invited me to join him at his table for dinner. Felt honored and had a wonderful time. He is very attractive and attentive.

DAY 4:

Dear Diary,

Won $800.00 in the ship's casino! Captain asked me to have dinner with him in his own cabin. Had a scrumptious meal, complete with caviar and champagne. He asked me to stay the night, but I declined. Told him I could not be unfaithful to my husband.

DAY 5:

Dear Diary,

Pool again today. Got sunburned, and I went inside to drink at piano-bar, stayed there for rest of day. Captain saw me, bought me several large drinks.

Really is quite charming. Again asked me to visit his cabin for the night. Again I declined. He told me if I did not let him have his way with me, he would sink the ship. I was shocked!

DAY 6:

Dear Diary,

Today I saved 1600 lives. Twice.

CBL#145 – Changing the Conversation about Beauty

Would you dedicate a year of your life, all alone, to falling in love with yourself? That is what my special guests, Malinda Dowsett and Lani Barna, did and what they found on the other side is inspiring to listen to. The specific principles they used on their journey from rock bottom to thriving and powerful is documented in their book, "Change Your Conversation, Change Your Life." The stories these women vulnerably share is a common one amongst women, and their advice is solid and practical. Lani would consistently study spirituality, intention work, and brain science. Then she and Malinda would take her learnings, and have long conversations applying the concepts to their everyday lives.  Women are taking their power  back, and these two exemplify that. Click listen button below to hear the whole show.

Malinda Dowsett and Lani Barna are two friends who hit rock bottom. Two women who turned to each other and empowered each other to become the strong, independent women they always knew they could be. They discovered that they could choose how they wanted every experience in their lives to feel, and that they could hold that vibration with their conversation. This is their journey — how two women changed everything about their lives, one conversation at a time.

In 2008 when Malinda and Lani were in the midst of some of life's toughest hurdles –divorce, suicide, near fatal experiences, single parenthood, job loss, financial disaster and inner turmoil. From failure to success they overcame years of self-defeating, habitual behavior by implementing the principles they put forward in their book and into everyday life.

Changing your conversation is the powerful beginning of every new journey.

These two remarkable women believe that every question we ask, every conversation we have, is the Law of Attraction at work. The spark that sets everything else in motion. The first step towards the fulfillment and completion we all seek. And although sometimes the first step down a long path may seem small in comparison to the journey, it is vital because without it there would be no journey at all.

"Change Your Conversation, Change Your Life" has one message — We all have a story. It's how you tell it that matters.

Events coming up are empowerment meetup groups and live Q & A with Malinda and Lani. They will be in Washington DC on December 4th, and Nashville, TN on February 4th.

Check out their website www.ChangeYourConversation.com

Think of all the conversations that need changing in our world!
